THE GIRL-LED ADVOCACY PROJECT
Our girls have officially launched their campaign to end Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in four counties namely Kisumu, Migori, Homabay and Siaya. The campaign was launched after 6 days intensive training on advocacy.
Read MoreWITH AND FOR GIRLS AWARD – ‘Girl-led Initiative’
Through this award, NIGEE has trained 19 girls mentors as part of our effort to build a strong network of Volunteer Mentors who will be reaching out to the girls at home, in school, within the community, and at individual level. NIGEE has also engaged a team of mobilizers to work with community leadership to identify girls out of school within the informal settlements of Kisumu. NIGEE established 3 mobile Bridging centers (BC) in the 2 informal settlements and one in rural area (Obunga, Manyatta and Seme) in Kisumu aiming at reaching 300 girls and teen mothers who dropped out of school due to various reasons such as, lack of school fees, early pregnancies and early marriages to facilitate their return to formal learning.

NIGEE has a vibrant Girls’ Steering Committee (GSC) that enhances sustained participation and involvement of beneficiaries. The GSC is part of the organization key organ involved in project designing, implementation and evaluation. The GSC is always involved in key strategic decision making during project designing, planning and selection of new beneficiaries. They always propose interventions which address their priority needs. Four of GSC members are part of NIGEE’s Board of Governors.
