In 2016 NIGEE took part in the Day of the African Child with the theme “Empowering Girls to reach their Potential by Delaying Marriage and Staying in School”. NIGEE Girls were happy to meet the Canadian High Commissioner to Kenya during the Day of the African Child. #Canada supports the rights of all children in Africa #DAC2016.
NIGEE was honored to be part of the DEDE GIRL- CHILD RESCUE WALK which took place on 31st July, 2016 in Migori County. The theme was: “Advocating for Girl-Child Right to Education". Leaders, communities & the girls themselves are speaking up & taking action to #endchildmarriage
It was a great week for 4 of our NIGEE beneficiaries who are also PrEP champions to get an opportunity to travel to Johannesburg, South Africa, for a stakeholders meeting accompanied by NIGEE's Director, Dr. Kawango Agot. The meeting was under the theme: “Meeting the HIV Prevention Needs of Adolescent Girls and Young Women". The girls had a chance to tell their stories in person and advocate for other girls in Kenya.
