JANICE ANYANGO OTIENO

She is an outstanding performer as she tops her class and maintains a mean grade of A plain. She has a passion for dancing and her dream is to be a surgeon.

GRACE AKINYI

Grace Akinyi Odhiambo {Form 3, St. Theresa Girls’ High School}

Grace Akinyi hails from Ogango-Kasule, Manyatta slums in Kisumu City, She schools at St. Theresa Girl’s High school. Grace had dropped out of school in form 2 due to early pregnancy. Her sister who was paying her school fee felt disappoint with her and vowed never to support her again. Her sister later chased her out of the house making her to sort refuge at her boyfriend’s place. NIGEE later reached and enrolled her back to school. Despite balancing her responsibilities, being a mother and a student she still managed to be position 8 out of 186, with a mean grade of B+ plus and maintained it thrice during the year. A bright future awaits you Gracy!!

MARY AUMA OKOTH

Mary Auma Okoth {form 3, The Mbugra Mixed Secondary School}

Mary did her K.C.P.E in 2014 and got 335 marks. She qualified to join a county school in Kisumu County but her parents could not afford her education. She therefore opted to join a day secondary school near her home hoping that her parents could afford it but her hopes were shuttered. Mary had to drop out of school but kept taking notes from her classmates in order to keep up with her studies. During 3rd term, she was called by her principal to sit for exams and she topped her class despite studying from home. However, the principal got transferred and she had to stay home because the new management didn’t understand her story.  NIGEE later reached out to her and re-enrolled her in Mbugra secondary school where she managed to score a B plain in term one and now maintains a steady grade of B+. The future is bright for Mary!!
