The sites includes; Nyalenda, Obunga & Manyatta. The right to be a girl project aims at contributing in the effort to ending child marriage amongst girls aged 10-16 years through girl-led advocacy interventions that call on community members to respect the rights of girls and support them to manage and run their own safe spaces where they are free to express themselves, acquire skills and knowledge to prevent and report SGBV and child marriage cases, and obtain services or referrals for specialized care.
Specific Objectives
- To enhance SGBV prevention awareness and improve reporting by victims of SGBV: We will pilot a reporting phone-based hotline and referral mechanism in one safe space in each of the 3 informal settlements
- Establish a community based girls’ advocacy network of 500 girls in which they will be provided with a platform to design and develop a girl-led campaign with focus on advocating against child marriage through mobilizing communities and enhancing capacity to claim their rights and demand for change
- Enhance child marriage prevention and SGBV outreach advocacy through girl-led campaign in partnership with the community as a whole and to encourage community ownership of SGBV prevention and risk reduction activities. The activities shall be conducted by mentors both within and outside the safe spaces.
